May was a month full of lively activities and meaningful moments that brought everyone together. From creative crafts to thoughtful conversations, the community embraced opportunities to connect, celebrate, and express themselves. This post shares the highlights of what made May special, showcasing how engagement and creativity can enrich daily life.
Creative Activities That Spark Joy
One of the standout features of May was the variety of creative sessions that allowed residents to explore their artistic sides. Pampering sessions combined with making rag reefs offered a relaxing yet productive way to spend time. These hands-on activities not only fostered creativity but also encouraged social interaction.
Flower pressing was another popular activity, where residents carefully preserved blooms, turning them into beautiful keepsakes. Painting bunting added a festive touch to the environment, brightening up shared spaces with colorful designs made by the residents themselves.
Games and Quizzes to Engage the Mind
Keeping the mind active is just as important as physical activity. This month, bingo games were a big hit, including a special "Hoy Bingo" event that brought excitement and friendly competition. The “Build a Bear” game also provided a fun challenge, combining creativity with teamwork.
Quizzes tested knowledge and sparked conversations, making learning a social experience. These activities helped maintain sharpness and offered moments of laughter and connection.

Celebrations and Personal Achievements
May was a time to celebrate milestones and personal successes. Birthdays were joyfully marked with gatherings that made each person feel special. One particularly inspiring moment was celebrating a resident’s success in participating in "Dementia Has Talent." She sang beautifully and shared her own poems, showing courage and creativity that inspired everyone.
The month also included an exercise class that encouraged physical well-being, helping residents stay active and energised. Jigsaw puzzles provided a calm, focused activity that many enjoyed throughout the weeks.
Meaningful Conversations and Community Meetings
A key part of May was the residents’ meeting, where upcoming events were discussed openly. These gatherings gave everyone a chance to share their thoughts and plan together. Topics included sensitive but important issues such as end-of-life conversations, as well as discussions about Pride and LGBTQIA+ awareness. These talks helped build understanding and respect within the community.
Planting and up-potting sessions connected residents with nature, offering a peaceful way to nurture growth and enjoy the outdoors.
