We celebrated World Kindness Day by expressing our appreciation for one another. Our activity coordinator designed a beautiful World Kindness display to encourage and support discussions about how the kindness of others affects our lives.

We are always extremely thankful for the support of our neighbor, who annually assists in creating a beautiful display of poppies in honor and remembrance of those who have fallen. Following the two minutes of silence, we had a wartime-themed sing-along. The residents enjoyed their usual weekly bingo, played a game of "Play Your Cards Right" before our monthly church service, and participated in a general knowledge quiz. At St Winifred's, we prefer to say "how" rather than "no." Keeping this approach in mind, when a family member asked us to organise a hot tub for their mother's birthday, we eagerly explored how to turn this dream into reality. After careful planning, necessary risk assessments, and collaborating with the family to overcome obstacles, we were thrilled to help them enjoy this birthday treat on the 9th of November.

We had another bustling week at St. Winifred's. We kicked off the week with our usual BINGO, and residents enjoyed our Guy Fawkes activities, including giving a penny for the guy and engaging in bonfire night-themed activities with the traditional pie and mushy peas. We celebrated residents' birthdays and were delighted to have the wonderful Steve Flynn perform for them. We had a lovely evening on Thursday representing St Winifred's Nursing Home at the KirCca Care awards. It was inspiring to celebrate so much positivity and success within the care industry. Both Sandra and I felt very humbled and honored to be finalists. We didn't win this time, but it was a fantastic opportunity and a wonderful event celebrating our industry. Perhaps next year!

With our activities coordinator back from annual leave, we've had a busy week. Halloween bingo kicked off on Monday, and we've enjoyed card games and autumnal crafts. The weekly quiz featured a Halloween theme. We took a nostalgic trip playing tiddlywinks and indulged in some pampering with nail painting. The exercise class was as full as ever. Last week, we participated for the first time in activities themed around the Diwali Festival. We learned all about the festival of light, its significance, and why it is celebrated. We enjoyed watching traditional dances and celebrations on our big screen while crafting fireworks with paint and crafts. We thoroughly enjoyed "Zoo to You," who brought a variety of creatures for our residents to learn about, hold, and experience. We had some very brave residents and visitors.

As usual, we kicked off our week with a classic Bingo session, while embracing the autumn season with themed crafts and an autumn display. We celebrated residents' birthdays and enjoyed one-on-one interactions, along with our new weekly quiz. We introduced some new exercises using pom-poms and egg trays, which were well-received, and we were delighted to have Ted, our therapy dog, back now that he is feeling better.
