"Throughout mum's short stay, it was clear that all your staff showed compassion and genuine care, we could not have wished for better support"
"Mum always seems happy and well cared for when we visit. We also think your residents meetings are helpful. Thank you for all that you do for our mum"
"Just a few lines to say thank you to everyone at St. Winifred's for the care which you gave to mum, during the years she was with you."
Growing older doesn’t mean that life has to become less exciting, which is why we have a varied programme of activities, so you can feel free to join in any of your choosing.
Our activities and events are chosen by our residents at the regular residents meetings and are co-ordinated by our own activities organiser, who works Monday to Friday afternoons. Activities include mental and physical stimulation and are suitable for groups or individuals.
Examples include: Aromatherapy, arts and crafts, films shows, exercise classes, quizzes, bingo, reminiscence therapy and barbeques, as well as outings to shops, restaurants and also boat trips along local canals. We have also had trips out this year to the garden centre, industrial museum, war museum and a summer fair which raised over £300 for our residents' fund.
In addition, we have professional entertainers every month who do musical afternoons and pantomimes, as well as regular visits from church services. There is no denominational bias within St. Winifred’s: residents are encouraged to follow the religion of their choice.
We know how important tasty and nutritious food is at any age. Our cooks serve a wide range of delicious, home cooked meals and are able to cater for special diets or meal requirements.
We also cater for special family occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries etc. Our menu offers plenty of choice at all meal times and rotates every 6 weeks. Hot and cold meals are on offer 3 times a day. We hold a 5-star award for our catering and hygiene standards.
We have an open visiting policy for all friends and family. Pets are also welcome to visit, although we do not have facilities to keep them overnight. Ample parking spaces are available.
All laundry is done in-house (except for items that require dry cleaning)
These include Doctors, District Nurses, Dentist, Hairdresser, Podiatrist, Chiropodist, Dieticians, Pharmacists and Palliative Care Nurses.
There is an active ongoing programme of maintenance to ensure our home is compliant with all aspects of Health and Safety. We adhere to all the legislation required of us by our local councils, CQC and HSE etc. St. Winifred’s handyman works in conjunction with external qualified personnel to maintain the home. Our passenger lifts, hoists, nurse call and fire alarm system are all maintained by external professionals.
